Gotcha! You were just “clickbaited!”
The Internet has billions of websites with all kinds of information and they are all trying to get your attention.
Some are just trying to be creative to establish a relationship with you. And most have legitimate and even valuable information.
But others, with questionable if not dangerous information, will use wild claims and shocking headlines, and big promises to lure you into a place where they can take advantage of you. That is commonly called “clickbait.”
And, tapping on clickbait will, at best, be a big waste of your time and, at worst, your whole identity could be stolen!
A good rule is; the wilder the claim – the more likely a scam and to be avoided.
